How do bumping and the cooldown timer differ?

Bumping is the act of pushing a post back to the top of the directory, meanwhile the cooldown timer is there as a way to prevent users from flooding the directory. This means every two hours you can perform one of the following actions: Create a new prompt either as a draft or posted, undraft a prompt, or bump a prompt. This timer is separate from the bump timer.

How do I bump a prompt? What about deleting?

After exactly two days from posting, the button to 'bump' will appear on the prompt down in the bottom right hand corner. Clicking on destroy will prompt a confirmation message before allowing you to do so. Once you bump a prompt, bump will disappear and you will have to wait another full 2 days to bump the prompt again. Please note that you cannot bump a drafted prompt - you will have to undraft your prompt and then bump it.

What does it mean to repurpose a prompt? Are there any downsides to this?

Repurposing a prompt means to remove all current content from the prompt and place a new idea in. Say your prompt was originally a Homestuck University AU shipping prompt, but you're no longer interested in that and instead want to rp a Marvel AU where everything doesn't go horribly wrong - you can rewrite that prompt with your new idea! The only downside to this is that if someone has blocked the prompt prior, it will still be blocked and cannot be reversed.

Why can't I make a draft while waiting for the cooldown timer?

Unfortunately, it is very hard to code a differentiation between a draft and a posted prompt that doesn't cause issues with circumventing the bump timer. Differentiating them in the code means that theoretically, someone could draft a prompt and then undraft it every two hours to bump their prompt to the top of the directory instead of waiting the five days to bump. Devs have looked into it, and the amount of code and work it would require seems unrealistic at this time. Apologies for that, but we would recommend saving your drafts elsewhere until you can throw them on the site if you're in the middle of a cooldown.

What happened to the maturity system (SFW/NSFWV/NSFWS/NSFWE)?

We've replaced the maturity system with an expanded warning system that uses Light Warnings and Heavy Warnings. Light Warnings are for content that could fit into a theoretically SFW prompt without changing its nature (like casual alcohol use or mentions of death in backstory), while Heavy Warnings are for more explicit content that would have previously been tagged as NSFWE. This change addresses the issue where minor mentions of certain content would unnecessarily elevate a prompt to NSFWE status. Now the warnings themselves indicate the intensity of the content.

Is there a way to link multiple character profiles to a prompt?

No, we may look into it later but as the saying goes, 'bigger fish to fry' at the moment. However, you can make a character profile that is a big catch all for all your OCs that you're interested in using if you would like! There's nothing in the rules against that.

Can people see my Character Profile in the directory?

It depends on the state that you have your profile set in - if it is locked it won't be visible until someone connects to your prompt and does not show in the directory but will be visible from chat info in the chats that spawn from the prompt. If it's posted, it's free to see in the directory and will still attach to relevant chats from that prompt. Draft is for you and you alone, nobody else can see it except for moderators.

Some of my RPs just randomly disappeared - what happened?

Unfortunately, this means your partner deleted their account. To be compliant with GDPR, when a user deletes their account entirely we have to purge all content that they were involved in. So unless they ended and deleted a chat before deleting their account and as such removed themselves from the participant list, those chats went with them as they still showed as a participant.

If a partner gets banned, does my rp automatically end/get deleted or can I see that they were banned?

No, the chat does not automatically end or delete - we intend to get a on-site ban appeal function running sometime (no current ETA) and therefore will not be ending or deleting their content for them. Additionally, we do not display if partners are banned to prevent harassment of partners and to prevent people from approaching the moderation team and demanding to know why their partner was banned.

I have a bug or would like to request a feature, where do I go to report that?

Please use the github! https://github.com/CherpChat/IssueBoard/issues. There are templates that must be filled out for both scenarios! If you do not fill out the template, we will not respond to your request or bug until you do so.

If I rename my chat / give it a new description, can my partner see that or just me?

Just you! Enjoy your strange little funny names and descriptions without worrying about being embarrassed!

I just posted my prompt but it's not at the top of the directory, did it fail to post?

The most likely scenario is that you made your post as a draft before properly posting it. The post will therefore go into the directory at the time that the initial draft was made. So if you made the draft two days ago, it will go into the directory flow with other posts from two days ago and you will have to wait to bump the prompt to put it back to the top. Additionally, make sure to double check that you don't have something in your own prompt blacklisted. If you use a tag that you have blacklisted in your prompt, you will not be able to see it in the directory as blacklists do not account for the prompt being yours.

How do I tag my RP preferences now?

RP preferences that were previously in misc tags now have their own dedicated section with checkboxes for common preferences. This includes post length (Short Paragraph, 2-3 paragraphs, 4+ paragraphs), RP length (Short-Term, Medium-Term, Long-Term), character preferences (Original Characters Accepted, Canon Characters Accepted, Willing to play as multiple characters), and plotness (No Plot, Minimal Plot, Plot-Driven, Episodic Story, Continuous Story). This makes it easier to find partners with compatible RP styles.

Where do I put my kinks and specific RP elements now?

Content that previously went into misc tags is now organized into three categories: Settings (where/when your RP takes place), Themes (broad narrative themes), and Details (specific elements including kinks). Put your specific kinks and RP elements in the Details section, while broader narrative concepts should go in Themes.

Can I report someone ending on me without saying anything about why they're ending?

No, people are allowed to end without saying anything and - in many circumstances - are encouraged to do so. If the option is to say something rude or disconnect wordlessly, the rules and Code of Conduct dictate that you should disconnect without saying anything.

Can I block other users specifically?

No, as the site is anonymous. You can block specific posts that fall outside of your blacklist or that you just really do not want to interact with, but otherwise that is the extent of 'blocking' functionality on the site.

Things I have blacklisted are showing up, is my blacklist not working?

Most likely scenario is that you have a whitelist, and something in your whitelist is overriding your blacklist. As we have not yet made it to logical blacklisting where the whitelist accounts for your blacklist and they work in conjunction, the whitelist shows you things without regard to the blacklist at the time. Otherwise, it's been noted that duplicates of things in your blacklist can cause the system to have some issues, so be concise in your blacklisting and try not to have variations - i.e. multiple different ways of capitalizing.

I got a moderation note on my prompt, what do I do?

Make the adjustments to your prompt that are noted in the moderation note and then feel free to remove it and undraft it yourself. If the changes are not made, your prompt will be redrafted with the same moderation note until the change is made. If you are asked to leave it drafted until it can be deleted or repurpose the prompt, then do so.

Can I link a google doc? What about Spotify or Youtube playlists?

No. These typically tie back to some form of information about the person who owns the playlist, doc, etc. This can include some very personal information such as a real name, and therefore we do not allow it. For character profiles we recommend either toyhouse, refsheet, or the onsite profiles and for songs just relaying the name to your partner or sending a one off youtube video.

When I report a chat do I need to do anything else?

Hang on to the chat! If you delete the chat then sometimes it disappears because both parties have now deleted the chat and the system does not hang on to it. Therefore, please hang on to it and usually a mod will contact you and let you know when your report has been actioned and you are free to delete the chat.

Can I put my F-List in my prompts?

They are not allowed in your prompt since it is considered a NSFW link (especially because F-Lists can have inlines and refs that are NSFW images) but can be sent upon connection!

Am I allowed to exchange contact information with my partner?

Yes, at your own risk.

Is there a way for me to separate my OOC from my rp with my partner or to keep in touch with them then?

You and your partner can utilize connect codes! Connect codes can be accessed by clicking on the gear on mobile or your username on desktop. By pressing the 'Get Code' button in the box that says 'Generate Connect Codes' it will produce an alphanumeric code which can then be sent to the party who you want to stay in contact with. It is a one time use code that they can then put into the input field in the 'Use Connect Codes' box to start a new, separate chat with the person it was supplied to.

Where do I go to get verified?

Verifying is currently in a transitional phase and is not available on CherAmi as of this moment. We will let you all know when verification becomes available again. Individuals who are currently verified on the previous site will be grandfathered in.

I verified, but I'm not really comfortable sharing off-site contact information. Do I have to? What happens if I tell someone no and they become rude / belligerent / upset?

Verifying does not mean that you have to provide off-site contact information ever if you choose not to! You can choose to provide it to some partners and not others at your discretion, and nobody is entitled to a form of off-site contact with you just because you are verified. You are more than welcome to tell someone that you would rather keep the connection on site, and if they begin to push, become rude, combative, or generally make you uncomfortable then you are absolutely allowed to report it. We take harassment seriously and will address the issue(s) / user(s) appropriately. Additionally, if a verified user harasses an unverified user for not verifying, for whatever reason it may be, that is reportable as harassment as well. Please note that simply asking if you intend to verify is not harassment and people are allowed to ask that as a bare minimum.

What are missed connections? Are they allowed?

Missed connections are where you had a specific roleplay going on with someone and you try to relocate them whether it was on mxrp or a disconnect on CherAmi and you use identifying terminology / a name they gave you. Missed connections are not allowed, but you can make a prompt from the basic premise of the rp before and state that prior connects are welcome!

Can I reconnect to someone to ask why they d/c'ed or to try to rp with them again?

No, you cannot connect to someone to ask why they d/ced - this is considered harassment as the site is anonymous for a reason. Also it is considered to be in poor form to try to rp with them again unless they state in their prompt that they are open to prior disconnects as it means that they likely just weren't vibing with or enjoying the rp and chose to leave instead of continuing.

Are blocklist / identifier tags allowed? What are blocklist tags?

Blocklist tags / Identifier tags used to be very common on Cherubplay and were basically monikers, specific alphanumeric strings, or some other form of highly specific tag used to identify all of a person's prompts to allow people to block them specifically. Thanks to the Pseudonym system, this will no longer be necessary - you can just make and use a Pseudonym instead.

Am I allowed to have multiple accounts?

No. The only reason you should ever - in any scenario - have more than one account is if your prior account is inaccessible which is if you forgot your password or deleted the account. Otherwise you should only be utilizing one account. If we find that you have multiple accounts and are avidly using them we will ban the newest account until your oldest remains.

Why is my prompt getting marked with a warning tag that I didn't put on there?

Some warnings are related to each other - i.e. transphobia, homophobia, orientation play, etc all relate to the tag Bigotry because of the nature of the content whether sexualized or not. Generally a warning will be there either because of these relationships between tags or because your prompt was missing a warning tag. Remember, mentions of, background elements, and *
