Cherami 2.0 - Patch Notes

Performance

  • Directory pages now load in around 0.2-0.1 seconds (down from 1.6 seconds) thanks to a streaming rendering system that shows content as it's ready
  • Optimized database queries and caching across the board - the whole site should feel snappier
  • Reduced directory page size to 10 prompts - faster page loads with quicker browsing between pages
  • Streaming rendering extended to Characters, Pseudonyms, and Chats pages

New Features

  • Dice rolling in chat - /roll 2d6+3, /roll 4d6dl1 (drop lowest), up to 100 dice
  • Colored text in markdown - text with standard CSS colors and all Homestuck typing colors ({color:johnblue}, {color:tereziteal}, {color:aradiared}, etc.)
  • Collapsible/spoiler sections - :::Title to open, ::: to close
  • Chat export - download your chat history as a text file from the chat sidebar
  • Notification sounds - a chime plays when new messages arrive while your tab is in the background (toggle in Settings)
  • End Chat button - end a chat without deleting it
  • Mark as Unread / Mark as Unanswered in chat settings
  • IC/OOC toggle - filter IC or OOC messages in chat view
  • Chat drafts sync across devices - start writing on your phone, finish on your laptop

Navigation & UI

  • Directory dropdown in the main nav now links to Characters, Pseudonyms, and Filters
  • Pseudonym names on prompt cards are now clickable
  • Chat-to-prompt link - chats started from a prompt now show a link back to it
  • Pagination controls at the bottom of directory pages
  • Show/hide password button on login and registration
  • Empty states - blank pages now show helpful messages instead of nothing

Fixes

  • Fixed form validation errors being silently swallowed
  • Fixed chat state bugs and double-submit on messages
  • Fixed blacklisting tags on mobile
  • Fixed tag capitalization inconsistency
  • Fixed report feature bugs

Behind the Scenes

  • Images restricted to trusted hosting sites (imgur, catbox, Bluesky, Tumblr, etc.)
  • Links and images now have privacy protections (no referer leaks)
  • Theme entitlements restored for previous monthly themes
  • Clock emojis removed from the icon pool
  • Prompt hiding is now permanent (no more 6-month expiry)
